Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis at Guy's Hospital
Laboratory overview
We offer testing of preimplantation embryos to identify familial mutations or abnormalities arising from parental chromosome rearrangements.
The PGD laboratory is a UKAS accredited medical laboratory No 8688. It is a nationally commissioned service and the Guy’s & St Thomas’ PGD unit is a centre of excellence and is internationally renowned. We are a collaborative service involving The Guy’s & St Thomas’ Assisted Conception Unit, the GSTT Clinical Genetics Department and the Synnovis Genetics Laboratories.
We are the largest provider of PGD in the UK, and patients travel to our centre from all over the country. We have won the Hospital Doctor’s Award for our innovative approaches to PGD, which have led to an enormous increase in the number of patients who can benefit from this treatment.
Please see the Guy's and St Thomas' Centre for Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis website for further information http://www.pgd.org.uk/home.aspx
