Pre-implantation Genetic Testing at Guy's Hospital
Laboratory overview
We offer testing of preimplantation embryos to identify familial mutations or abnormalities arising from parental chromosome rearrangements.
The Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) laboratory is a UKAS accredited medical laboratory No 8688. It is a nationally commissioned service and the Guy’s & St Thomas’ PGT unit is a centre of excellence and is internationally renowned. We are a collaborative service involving the Guy’s & St Thomas’ Assisted Conception Unit, the GSTT Clinical Genetics Department and the Synnovis Genetics Laboratories.
We are the largest provider of PGT in the UK, and patients travel to our centre from all over the country. We have won the Hospital Doctor’s Award for our innovative approaches to PGT, which have led to an enormous increase in the number of patients who can benefit from this treatment.
All referrals to our service must come via the Guy’s Clinical Genetics and Embryology teams (information can be found at https://www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/our-services/pre-implantation-genetic-testing-pgt-msr and https://guysandstthomasspecialistcare.co.uk/investigations/pre-implantation-genetic-testing/).
