Clinical details:
Hepatitis Delta can only occur in conjunction with Hepatitis B infection and dual infection is associated with more severe hepatitis and fibrosis. NICE guidance recommends all patients newly diagnosed with Hepatitis B are screened for Hepatitis delta co-infection at referral to secondary care.

Storage and transport:
Place labelled sample in a sealed sample bag and send to Central Specimen Reception (CSR). To prevent sample haemolysis please store samples in refrigerator if a delay in sending samples to CSR is unavoidable.
