Unite strike activity 16-20 December 2024
Trade union Unite has announced that its members who work at Synnovis are planning to strike on 16-20 December (inclusive).
Synnovis provides pathology testing services that are important for many treatments and procedures to GP practices, hospitals and other NHS services across south east London. As a result, Unite’s industrial action will impact services run by our partner Trusts (Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust) and the local NHS services, including GP practices, where pathology testing is an important part of the clinical care provided.
Business Continuity Plans have been activated to protect the pathology services that will allow urgent, emergency and essential patient care to continue on strike days. Synnovis has requested Unite’s commitment to minimum staffing levels to protect these essential services, and is awaiting a response.
Synnovis continues to explore every avenue of resolution, including the involvement of ACAS, and remains deeply disappointed that Unite has chosen to proceed with strike action.
We are grateful for the dedication of colleagues who will be continuing to provide care and essential pathology testing services during the strikes. We recognise the impact these strikes will have on patients, service users and partners, and apologise to everyone affected.
Notes to editors:
Synnovis is a pathology partnership between Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and King’s College Hospitals NHS Trust, and SYNLAB, Europe’s largest provider of medical testing and diagnostics.
