Description:
Sample is forwarded by virology staff to reference laboratory and clinical advice is provided by microbiology staff.
CFTs are performed at King's. If positive, the sample is forwarded to RIPL, PHE Porton Down for ELISA, IF and PCR assays.
PCR is done on serum, EDTA whole blood and tissue samples if specified as acute infection.
