Haemostasis and Thrombosis Department

The Haemostasis and Thrombosis Department provides a comprehensive range of laboratory tests covering routine and specialist haemostasis and thrombosis, molecular haemostasis and nutristasis.

We also provide services to hospital anticoagulation clinics for patient treatment monitoring.

Our laboratories are the largest of their kind in the UK, processing around 60,000 tests a month. We receive local, national and international referrals and offer one of the most diverse testing repertoires in the field.

We pride ourselves on our reputation for research and involvement in clinical trials, expertise in the interpretation of results, education and the development and implementation of new tests.

Our scientific leaders are regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences and we have an impressive record of publications and presentations at scientific meetings.

The Haemostasis and Thrombosis department is a UKAS accredited medical laboratory (No.8595), accredited to ISO15189:2012 for the tests listed in our schedule of accreditation available on the UKAS website  https://www.ukas.com/search-accredited-organisations/

I had to find another place for laboratory activity and the Haemostasis and Thrombosis Department at St Thomas’ was chosen for your excellence and longstanding competence with Vitamin K dependent coagulation factors. I trusted that this would all be done in the right way and I wish to say that it turned out to be high quality work. I am grateful for your perfect work.
